SiteBadge Stores is a web site that provides shopping cart services to
multiple stores. The site was created to supply common sales services for
multiple TuHorn Enterprises, LLP web services and games. The site can support 4
different types of products.
4 Product Types
Public Product
Public products are those products that are available to anyone at anytime and
require no authorization from the remote web service or game. Examples of this
kind of product are promotional T-shirts and hats.
Protected Product
Protected products are those products that are available only when accessed
through the remote web service or game. Handshaking occurs between the remote
web service or game to indicate the specific user who is accessing the store.
The remote users account information will be listed in the header as an
indication that protected products will be made available and immediate
delivery of any products will be made to that account. Limitations are imposed
so that purchase limits are enforced and dependent products are maintained.
Examples of this kind of product are promotional Game membershpis and turns
where turns are depended on a membership and turns are limited to $250 per
player account.
Private Product
Private products are those products that are available by invitation only.
These products are made visible by entering an access code that was previously
emailed to the user. Once the access code is entered, the store lists the
private items which can then be added to the shopping cart for purchase. A
private product can be entered into the system for one person or multiple
people. Examples of this kind of product are "Top 10 T-Shirts of Game 36" or
Web services at a special price. Private products are avaiable anytime and do
not require the user to access the store from the remote web service.
PrePaid Product
PrePaid products are those products that were already purchased, but not
delivered. While this is not really a separate product, it is accessed using a
prepaid code. Once the prepaid code is entered, the product(s) will be visible
in the catelog page and can be added to the shopping cart. Since the item is
already paid for, the price listed in the catelog is crossed out and the price
listed in the shopping cart is $0. Also, the delivery mechanism is forced to be
immediate. The user must access the store from the remote web site in order to
be allowed to redeem the prepaid product. Validation will occur at checkout
time to make sure that the user does not go over the purchase limit.
3 Different Delivery Options
Immediate Delivery (web services only)
Immediate delivery of web services purchases allows a purchase to be delivered
directly to the web service. This is the most common option and the only option
that is currently supported by each of our web sites. This delivery occurs when
we receive notification from VeriSign or PayPal of the purchase using the
appropriate notification mechanisms. An email confirming the purchase will be
sent to the user but no prepaid codes will be included in that email.
PrePaid Code Delivery (web services only)
When a customer wants to buy a web service, but not have it immediately
delivered to his account in the target web service, a PrePaid code will be sent
when notification is received from VeriSign or PayPal. Each product in the
shopping cart marked for PrePaid Code delivery will get their own PrePaid code
so that the user can use them one-by-one. This is important for those users
that want to draw from prepaid turns in a game. This is also useful when the
user wants to buy membership or turns for another person as a gift. Once the
purchase is completed, and email is sent to the user. He/She can then send the
prepaid code to the gift receipiant who then uses the store to redeem the
coupon for their account instead of the purchaser's account.
Mail Delivery (merchandise only)
Mail delivery is only available to merchandise such as T-Shirts and Hats. This
is the only delivery mechanism for this kind of product. Merchandise cannot be
PrePaid and Redeemed and the items can only be sent to the address that is
verified on the credit card.
Reasons for the development of this site:
-
Allow users to purchase everything in one transcation (membership and $250 in
turns). It must support the delivery of membership immediately and turns as
prepaid codes.
-
Allow users to purchase products for other people who can later redeem the
purchase using promotion codes
-
Allow pre-purchase of game memberships before the game starts by sending
promotion codes
-
Allow promotion of private products such as the "Top 10 T-Shirts" to be made
available
-
Allow FREE BONUS products to be automatically added to a cart based on
the net cart amount.
